Lily Anne’s Story

“Lily, we miss you every day. You are with us in our hearts.”

Lily Anne Hudson, Trisomy 13, 10/21/2009 – 10/22/2009,

Lily Anne HudsonOur sweet Lily Anne was due December 26, 2009. At 28 gestational weeks, my blood pressure and protein count was higher than normal. My OB recommended I start coming in twice a week for a check up. At 29 weeks, my blood pressure and protein continued to be too high. My doctor was concerned this was pre-eclampsia and that with Lily’s Trisomy condition it would not be healthy for her or me to continue to carry to term.

Lily was delivered via C-Section on October 21, 2009 at 1:04 p.m.

Lily was the most beautiful baby we had ever seen. She had six tiny fingers on each hand that were so precious. Lily had a head full of blond hair. She was 3 lbs. 4 oz. and was 15 1/2 inches long.

Kevin and I had Lily with us for 16 hours and 6 minutes. She passed away peacefully in our arms on October 22, 2009 at 5:10 a.m. Even though Lily was 10 weeks premature and had Trisomy 13, she was a real fighter and gave us the opportunity to meet her, hold her and express our love.

We had Lily’s funeral services the following week on October 28, 2009. We were surrounded by family and friends. Saying goodbye to Lily was the hardest thing Kevin and I have ever had to do.

We are glad we decided to carry Lily to full term when we found out she had T13. We are proud of Lily for being so strong but most of all we are filled with peace knowing she is in Heaven. We will always miss and love Lily. She was truly a miracle and our precious angel.

Thank you to Angel Watch Support Group and all of the Trisomy families we have met.

Lily, we miss you every day. You are with us in our hearts. We love you and can’t wait to be with you again. Love, Mom and Dad.
