Hello SOFT Membership –
We are excited for the annual SOFT Conference this summer in Bloomington MN, July 10-14, 2024.
The Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the opportunity to consider joining the SOFT Board of Directors. There is one director seat available for the election in July 2024. Board of Directors are elected for a three-year term.
The Expression of Interest Form will detail the information required to be considered by the Nominating Committee and the Board of Directors for the upcoming election. The form will be active starting Monday, April 12, 2024, and will close at midnight EST, Sunday, May 12, 2024.
The SOFT bylaws specify the following:
The Nominating Committee shall consider all members who submitted expressions of interest on their own accord, as well as any other members who submitted such expressions of interest at the request of the committee, determine which members it will nominate for election to the Board of Directors. In making that determination, the Nominating Committee shall take into account, inter alia, (i) the member’s commitment to the goals of SOFT, (ii) the member’s experiences as a member of SOFT, (iii) the member’s qualifications, including management skills, other professional skills, and the ability to work harmoniously with others, and (iv) the variety of personal and family experiences represented in SOFT.
The Nominating Committee will announce the names of nominees on Tuesday, May 27, 2024.
Note: The election will take place at the business meeting at the Annual SOFT Conference on Saturday, July 13, 2024, and those in attendance will vote to determine the individuals to fill the one vacant director seat.
The SOFT bylaws also specify the following information:
Any member who was not nominated by the Nominating Committee may submit to the Nominating Committee, no later than 21 days before annual meeting, a self-nomination that is (i) supported in writing or by emails, also submitted to the Nominating Committee, of no fewer than 10 other members, and (ii) accompanied by a completed expression of interest on the form prepared by the Nominating Committee if such expression of interest was not already submitted in accordance with paragraph 1.
Final note from the SOFT bylaws:
The ballot for election of the directors at the annual meeting shall consist of those nominated by the nominating committee and self-nominees who have complied with the procedure in paragraph 3. No nominations from the floor at the annual meeting are allowed.
