Addilyn’s Story

Addilyn Moreno, Trisomy 18, 05/11/2016, Fairbury, NE

Addilyn has had multiple surgeries and two long hospital stays. She had her first open heart surgery at just three weeks old weighing 5 pounds. She had a coarctation of aorta repaired along with her large VSD patched up, and her PDA closed. She was also diagnosed with mitral valve displasia, small ASDs throughout and bicuspid aortic valve but those issues didn’t require intervention. She sailed through surgery and recovery and came home from the NICU at 6 weeks old. She then contracted rhino virus at 6 months old and was in the hospital for a long six months. In that time she had a trach and g button placed and was ventilator dependent for months. She also had a melody valve placement in the mitral position and then a permanent pacemaker and port a cath. She is no longer vent dependent and is doing well. She spent 6 months in the hospital, from 12-09-2016 to 06-13-2017 and finally came home to be with her family.
