We will never be the same, for he has touched our hearts and many others.
Ezra Michael Rufener, Trisomy 13, Redmond, OR, 11/02/2012 – 11/06/2012
On November 2, 2012 my husband and I delivered our beautiful baby boy Ezra Michael, he was 9lbs 8oz and 20 1/4 inches long. Ezra was not placed on my chest but instead rushed out of the room, within minutes we were discovering that there were many things wrong with him. He was airlifed to Bend Or. It was there that we were told he had trisomy 13 and would not live. We spent four days learning about this syndrome and surrounding him with love, tears and many prayers. My husband and I held him for an hour each while he was on life support, on day four Ezra was removed from life support and passed away in our arms on Novemder 6, 2012. We are blessed beyond belief to have known our son. We will never be the same, for he has touched our hearts and many others. Ezra has taught us so much about life…to love, to lean on each other and to not take one moment for granted. God is our strength and Ezra is our light. Ezra is thought of daily and has forever impacted our lives…Thank you son for changing us all for the good. We will one day hold you again. Your dad, sister and I love and miss you so much.
