What is something unique and special about your child with trisomy that you wish more people knew?

Kari’s smile was amazing! Just by a smile, she would touch hearts! Although she didn’t speak, she “talked” through her eyes and face. Sometimes, she would look at me after being fed through her g-tube with such love and gratitude that all I could say was, “You are very welcome!” She loved children and they loved her. Her giggle was contagious. Her older sister and younger brothers often played with her in her big bed. Oh, what grand memories we shared as a family and what an amazing journey she still leads us on today!

Why do you believe raising awareness about trisomy conditions is important, and how can others make a difference?

Awareness is the key to understanding! When we take the time to listen and learn, we are able to reach out and offer understanding and support.

During Trisomy Awareness Month, what message would you like to share with the world about your family’s journey and the trisomy community?

Our family’s trisomy journey has opened our hearts, and we have met amazing people, traveled to incredible places, and have found courage and strengths we cherish. Through our journey, we have found the world to be a bigger, brighter, and more beautiful place!
