What is something unique and special about your child with trisomy that you wish more people knew?

Samuel loves to watch sports and go to plays. He always enjoyed being at church and going to school. He laughs so hard he cries and can’t catch his breath. He gives the best hugs. He can swim and he is happy when he is in his recliner watching TV. He is living in his own home with 24/7 nursing care.

Why do you believe raising awareness about trisomy conditions is important, and how can others make a difference?

It is important that everyone is aware that people with a trisomy diagnosis can have a happy life when given the chance. We were given hope after meeting other families and now that Samuel is 26 years old and doing well, we hope he is an inspiration to others.

During Trisomy Awareness Month, what message would you like to share with the world about your family’s journey and the trisomy community?

Samuel has taught us so much! We love deeper. We treasure our time together more. We celebrate every day. It has been the hardest but most rewarding experience. A journey of a lifetime and I would not change a thing.
