What is something unique and special about your child with trisomy that you wish more people knew?

Asmond is the happiest little boy. It doesn’t matter what life throws at him, he faces it all with joy.

Why do you believe raising awareness about trisomy conditions is important, and how can others make a difference?

I didn’t know about this diagnosis or the broader Trisomy community until I had a child with T9M. Our team in the NICU had never had a patient with T9M. I had so many questions that went unanswered.

My main goal in raising awareness of Trisomy is to make sure that the next family who receives this diagnosis has someone in their lives who can either give them the answers they need or point them towards resources that can provide them with answers. I also want to normalize the Trisomy/medically complex experience and connect with families like ours.

During Trisomy Awareness Month, what message would you like to share with the world about your family’s journey and the trisomy community?

Connect with your fellow rare Trisomy and medically complex families. The rare Trisomy and medically complex communities have been so kind, welcoming, and helpful when I have questions.
