Bonnie Baty, PhD, Genetic Counselor at the University of Utah, in collaboration with SOFT, created the first, and still only, charts with growth curves for infants and children with trisomy 18 and 13.

Children’s standardized growth charts are separate for boys and girls. The SOFT charts are a combination of both male and female growth. Baty’s study notes that children with trisomy 18 and 13 are generally smaller at birth and grow slower than other children. This is especially true for children with trisomy 18. Baty’s charts allow growth percentile comparison of these children with their peers. The growth charts are provided separately by weight, height and head circumference. SOFT suggests parents print and provide these growth charts to their child’s doctor.
