What is something unique and special about your child with trisomy that you wish more people knew?
Blaine had the most beautiful golden hair. Her favorite spot was skin to skin with her mommy. She let you know when it was almost time to eat, she wouldn’t let you forget it either! She had her nurses and her family wrapped around her finger. Her beauty was so radiant you almost had to look twice to see she had a cleft lip and palate. She is our beautiful angel.
Why do you believe raising awareness about trisomy conditions is important, and how can others make a difference?
Raising awareness is very important to our family because before Blaine we didn’t even know or ever hear of Trisomy 13. After reaching out to resources and talking to other mothers, Trisomy is more common than you think! I am so thankful for the groups on Facebook and the other moms who care about helping other moms navigate through advocating for their little one.
During Trisomy Awareness Month, what message would you like to share with the world about your family’s journey and the trisomy community?
Jesus knows your babies by name. He knew them before you, he formed them in your womb. They aren’t a fluke or an accident they have a purpose and God gave them to you for a reason. Some of us may never know the reason but these babies make such an impact on everyone around them. They are fearfully and wonderfully made. The more we advocate and share our stories the more we can help these babies and help understand them more.
