What is something unique and special about your child with trisomy that you wish more people knew?

Casey which means ‘Brave One’ was true to his name who defied odds and got as far as he did on his journey fighting strong. Casey was born sleeping and it was the greatest gift getting to meet him, hold him, sing and dance with him and say our goodbyes. To anyone who has to go on a similar journey, please know its so worth the fight. Of course we wished Casey could have lived a longer life but know he didn’t suffer and all he knew was love, and we have peace in that.

Why do you believe raising awareness about trisomy conditions is important, and how can others make a difference?

Raising awareness is not just important so we can learn more about this condition, its so valuable so parents can connect with other families who have walked the path before them. That has been a great source of solace for us, knowing we aren’t alone in our fears and grief.

During Trisomy Awareness Month, what message would you like to share with the world about your family’s journey and the trisomy community?

Don’t give up on our superhero’s, their lives are just valuable as anyone else and they will all have a different journey. They teach us the greatest lessons about valuing time, life and love, something we should all be reminded of often.
